Bolivian Recipes: Buñuelos

INGREDIENTS FOR BUÑUELOS

3 cups of flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon salt

1/2 tablespoon yeast

1/2 teaspoon
- Anise
- Warm water, as needed.
- Frying oil for deep frying

PREPARATION OF BUÑUELOS

1. Prepare a tea from anise and water. Prepare the yeast with some water and sugar according to the instructions on the package.
- 2. Add flour, egg, sugar, salt, and sugar to a bowl and add anise tea as needed.
- 3. Mix until a soft dough forms.

4. Let it rest for at least 1 hour.

5. Take a piece of dough the size of a fist, preferably wet your hands. Spread the dough with your fingers until a thin layer is formed and make some holes in it.
- 6. Pour the oil into a pan or pot, heat it up, and fry the beignets until golden brown. Once the buñuelos are golden brown, add cane honey or powdered sugar.
