Bolivian Recipes: Buñuelos

INGREDIENTS FOR BUÑUELOS

  • 3 cups of flour 
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon
  • Anise
  • Warm water, as needed.
  • Frying oil for deep frying

PREPARATION OF BUÑUELOS

  • 1. Prepare a tea from anise and water. Prepare the yeast with some water and sugar according to the instructions on the package. 
  • 2. Add flour, egg, sugar, salt, and sugar to a bowl and add anise tea as needed.
  • 3. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  • 4. Let it rest for at least 1 hour.
  • 5. Take a piece of dough the size of a fist, preferably wet your hands. Spread the dough with your fingers until a thin layer is formed and make some holes in it.
  • 6. Pour the oil into a pan or pot, heat it up, and fry the beignets until golden brown. Once the buñuelos are golden brown, add cane honey or powdered sugar.
